Empire season 5 episode 8 live stream: Watch online

Even though it’s after the holiday, we can still give thanks for the fall finale of Empire, and all of the drama that’s bound to come with it.

The preview of the Empire fall finale shows Lucious lovingly assuring Cookie that they’re in it together. But in the Lyon Family universe, what goes up, must come crashing down.

Kingsley reiterates his vow to make his (presumably absent) father Lucious extinct. Meanwhile, Giselle seems to catch on to the suspicion behind Kingsley’s parentage after seeing a copy of his birth certificate and learning that it doesn’t list a father.

Cookie also seems to be mulling over the extinction of Coocious as she confronts Lucious, telling him, “You’ve done some things, things other women would never forgive.”

The suspenseful preview ends with Lucious and Cookie in an argument. Cookie tearfully watches as Lucious drives a knife through the painting that was a wedding gift — a painting that was presumably sold and copied after Lucious entered that poker match to buy an artist’s contract in “What is Done.”

And that’s just the preview. According to SpoilerTV, even more goes down in the fall finale:

"The cost of running Lyon Family Management starts to put pressure on Cookie and Lucious’ relationship. When Kingsley pulls a power move of his own that has major financial repercussions for Lucious, Cookie thinks back to their early struggles. Kai (guest star Toby Onwumere) becomes upset when Jamal announces their engagement on live TV and Tiana hits a crossroad with Hakeem, who refuses to set aside his beef with Blake. Meanwhile, Candace becomes vindictive after feeling betrayed by Cookie and Giselle uncovers a key to her future…"

I’ll continue to refrain from speculation, since that’s proven futile with these live stream previews. What is certain, however, is that the fight between the Lyons and Kingsley is just getting started.

Once again, even though we’d love to see some of the storylines that were opened this season resolved and tied up with a bow, we’re technically only halfway through the season. After Wednesday night, we may still be wondering who’s in the casket, who Damon Cross is, or if Lucious, Cookie and Lyon Family Management will survive this latest hurdle.

But, the only way to get one step closer to unlocking the key to all of those mysteries is to tune in.
