The Walking Dead midseason finale live stream: Watch online

The midseason finale previews tease Eugene’s rescue in the midst of Whisperer herd problems. Will the team be able to rescue him or will someone lose their life?

The first half of season 9 almost broke us with Rick’s departure and Maggie’s exit to join Georgie. Here we are at the midseason finale, and we still have to brace ourselves for the worst, since the Whisperers have been pinpointed within the herd that’s been stalking Eugene and Rosita. That means that the rescue team headed for Eugene will have more than a handful to deal especially since these aren’t mindless walkers.

Meanwhile, Michonne will finally enter the Hilltop gates for the first time in years this episode as well. Since Maggie is no longer a resident, she may not have to deal with uncomfortable conversations regarding the mysterious events that happened within the six-year lapse that tore the communities apart. This is still a subject we have learned little about other than that certain folks are no longer speaking to each other and Michonne and Daryl carry similar scars. Will this episode finally reveal what could have led friendships to break the way they did after Rick’s disappearance?

This is what the official synopsis for “Evolution” states:

"A small rescue mission braves a dangerous herd in their hunt for a missing comrade, only to discover a surprising threat that could doom them all."

And when Michonne finally gets to see Rosita, what will she make of what she will hear about the walkers? Rosita will surely tell her that the walkers are talking and that they can hunt, and that will put a damper on everything they’ve ever known. Will Michonne believe her and run out to help the guys that went looking for Eugene or will they think that these are just delusions from Rosita being dehydrated?

Although Aaron, Jesus, and Daryl have set off confidently to rescue Eugene, this mission could prove to be life-threatening. They have no idea what they’re walking into, and no one has prepared them for humans wearing walker skin. Eugene has done the right thing by laying low in a barn and staying off the walker radar, but I’m hoping that he’s collected some info on the Whisperers that will help them escape.
