Everyone is desperate to find Agent Liberty in the latest Supergirl episode. Read below for information on how to watch “Rather the Fallen Angel.”

It might be the holidays, but Supergirl isn’t relaxing. Last week, the Children of Liberty made their presence known to the public at large by releasing a xenophobic manifesto and embarking on a night of terror. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of our heroes (and, in Manchester Black’s case, antiheroes), the greatest damage was caused by an overly protective pet dragon.

Nonetheless, the anti-alien movement continues to gain power. The twisted genius of Agent Liberty’s plan is that aliens’ attempts to defend themselves will only reinforce the belief that they are dangerous. He will undoubtedly find a way to spin the dragon’s brief rampage of destruction in his favor.

Plus, in contrast to their opponents, the good guys aren’t exactly mounting a united front. At the DEO, Alex is on thin ice with Colonel Haley, who insists on pursuing only alien threats (less out of prejudice than an extreme devotion to protocol), and Manchester Black has resorted to murder and torture. Most troubling, however, is the rift between James and Lena — yet another example of why one shouldn’t mix work with romance. Ironically, this is the first time I’ve actually found their relationship interesting.

Tonight’s episode, titled “Rather the Fallen Angel,” will build on those conflicts. You can read the official synopsis below, courtesy of The CW:

"James (Mehcad Brooks) falls in deeper with the Children of Liberty in his efforts to meet Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer). Meanwhile, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Manchester Black (guest star David Ajala) follow a lead on Agent Liberty’s location, but things take a dark turn. Lena (Katie McGrath) kicks off her first set of trials."

Is anyone else worried about James? “Call to Action” ended with him being blindfolded and put in a van, which is never the most comforting way to start an interview. But no matter how the conversation with Agent Liberty unfolds, I’m just glad to see James get a substantive storyline of his own. It’s about time.

Overall, the synopsis suggests more of a transition/set-up episode. The most intriguing aspect of it is the title, which refers to a line in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, which is itself a reference to John Milton’s Paradise Lost. Given that James, Manchester Black, and Lena are all operating in morally ambiguous territory, any of them could be the “fallen angel” in question.

Chad Lowe directs from a script by Dana Horgan and Katie Rose Rogers.
