Star Wars Resistance season 1 episode 9 live stream: Watch online

Kaz uses the “Platform Classic” as a way to reunite Yeager with someone from his past, but this someone also happens to be in deep trouble with the Guavian Death Gang.

For the past few episodes, we’ve seen Kaz hang around with Tam and Neeku, but not so much with his boss. The last time we saw Kaz and Yeager have a meaningful conversation together was in “Fuel for the Fire,” when Jace Rucklin stole Yeager’s hyperfuel.

This is also the same episode when we discovered Yeager’s past as a racer and how he once had a wife and child. Now, someone else from Yeager’s past will be coming up in this next episode, “The Platform Classic.”

According to the official synopsis:

"An upcoming race reunites Yeager with his estranged brother, Marcus, who needs to win to pay off his debt to a criminal organization."

Estranged brother? So it turns out Yeager has family out there in the galaxy, but he doesn’t have a healthy and loving relationship with them. There has to be a major reason why these two brothers haven’t gotten along.

How does Kaz fit into all of this? Apparently, Marcus’ mechanic is kidnapped, so Kaz steps in to assist him in preparing for the big race. (We all know he’s not mechanic material, so here’s hoping Kaz has picked up a few skills.) At the same time, he learns more about Yeager and his relationship with his brother. What other secrets will Kaz discover during the process?

Additionally, will dealing with Yeager’s family matters put things into perspective? After all, we haven’t seen or heard from Kaz’s father, Hamato Xiono, since the series premiere. Hamato disapproved of Kaz helping the Resistance and called them extremists. Kaz abruptly ended the call, leaving his father and the rest of his family in the dark.

We can only guess at how much time has passed, but we imagine it’s been a month or two since they last spoke. Kaz hasn’t even stopped to think about his father or family, especially since he has the Resistance’s mission on his mind. We get the feeling some of the interactions we’ll be seeing between Yeager and his brother will motivate Kaz to re-think his relationship with his father.

At least, that’s the hope. With the show’s events getting closer and closer to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we desperately want to see father and son get in touch again before the First Order inevitably destroys the Hosnian system. It’d be great to see Hamato be proud of what his son has accomplished and for Kaz to feel that love and appreciation.
