Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade live stream: Watch online
The time honored tradition of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is back yet again. This year looks to be even more festive and it’s time to celebrate.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade celebrates its 92nd year of pageantry to the streets of New York City. From 77th Street and Central Park West to ending at Macy’s Herald Square, this annual event is a Thanksgiving favorite.
One of the reasons why the annual Thanksgiving event is loved by young and old is the mixture of classics and modern touches. This year, floats will feature numerous celebrities from John Legend and Rita Ora to Sugarland and the legendary Diana Ross. As everyone prepares for the Thanksgiving feast, families can discuss which performers had the best songs of the day.
For many people, the soaring balloons are the biggest draw of the annual parade. The balloons have been part of the parade since 1927. While many favorite characters will return, a couple of new friends are joining the line-up. Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles will introduce Fleck, Bjorn, Jojo, and Hugg; Goku from Dragon Ball Super: Broly will also join perennial favorites like Pillsbury Doughboy and SpongeBob SquarePants.
Additionally, the parade features special floats. New to the parade this year is Elf Pets by The Elf on the Shelf and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by Nickelodeon. The floats are often visually stunning and capture the characters and settings incredibly well.
Personally, my favorite float is always Tom Turkey. That old school turkey is such a Thanksgiving symbol. Other characters might come and go, but Tom Turkey is a reminder that Thanksgiving is her.
And, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade isn’t complete without a visit from Santa Claus. As the parade ends its journey in front of Macy’s Herald Square, Santa welcomes children of all ages with his holiday cheer. Hopefully everyone is on the good list this year.
