Legends of Tomorrow season 4 episode 5 live stream: Watch online
By Amy Woolsey
The Legends go to 1950s Japan for another monster-centric episode. Here’s how you can catch this week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow.
Just when you think things on Legends of Tomorrow couldn’t get any more outlandish, they do. In last week’s episode, a schlocky horror movie led the team to crash a summer camp in the 1980s so they could capture a kid-eating swamp “thaaang”. At one point, Sara and Ava drank a magical potion that temporarily turned them into kids. Because this is Legends of Tomorrow, none of it was creepy.
Also because this is Legends of Tomorrow, the episode was full of emotion. Sara gave Ava some (admittedly kind of unpleasant) childhood memories, and Ray’s Cub Scout skills finally paid off. On the Waverider, Mick bonded with Charlie over their experiences in prison, convincing her to help the team in their magical fugitive quest.
This week’s episode, titled “Tagumo Attacks!!!”, continues the horror theme with a riff on Kaiju, or Japanese monster movies. You can read the official synopsis below:
"SOMETHING’S FISHY — A new fugitive is on the loose in 1951 Tokyo and Sara (Caity Lotz), Zari (Tala Ashe), Rory (Dominic Purcell) and Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) try to capture it. As Constantine (Matt Ryan) struggles to recover, Ray (Brandon Routh) knows that magic might be the only thing that can save him but must look outside the team for help. Meanwhile, Ava (Jes Macallan) joins Nate (Nick Zano) and his family for an unconventional Thanksgiving dinner."
Legends of Tomorrow went to Japan once before in season 2’s Edo-era episode “Shogun.” This time, it’s the post-World War II era, so expect the show to delve into the aftermath of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Interestingly, the show’s time period predates Kaiju, since the first entry in the genre, Gojira (aka Godzilla), wasn’t released until 1954. Either way, judging by the episode trailer, it will be a blast.
But defeating a radioactive monster should be nothing compared to Thanksgiving dinner at the Heywood house. Last time Nate sat down for a meal with his father, it went hilariously awry, and interacting with strangers isn’t exactly Ava’s strong suit. Of course, if the Legends do anything well, it’s finding family with people who aren’t family. At least Ava won’t have to spend the day with a photo of actors that pretended to be her parents.
Alexandra La Roche directs from a script by Keto Shimizu and Ubah Mohamed.
