Beautiful Boy, The Big Short, Battle of the Sexes. What happened to, Steve Carell? You used to be so silly and comedic, and now you’ve gone all “serious actor” on us. Are you sure you’re prepared to host Saturday Night Live again?

That’s what cast members Aidy Bryant and Chris Redd are asking Carell in this week’s promo for SNL — because it’s been a long time since Carell has been the hilariously lovable Michael Scott on The Office, and an even longer time since he hosted SNL. (The last time he hosted was in 2008. So that’s 10 years away from the game.)

All that aside, in the promo (which you can watch below) Carell put in lots of hard work to get back to being funny again. And in no time, he was back to his old self. Though, we’re sure he won’t mind it if another Oscar nomination rolls in for a series part every now and then.

But as Carell said, “It’s good to be back.” So we have good faith that this will be another funny episode with him. Plus, there should be lots of political goodies for SNL to crack open in Weekend Update or the cold open. We’re guessing they have to tackle Jim Acosta getting his press credentials back — because it’d be pretty hilarious to see the Trump admin throw a temper tantrum over Acosta coming back to the White House.
