With the finals next week, what’s left of this season’s Dancing with the Stars cast will be trying to make a strong stand in scoring.

There are six couples trying to make it to the Dancing with the Stars season 27 finale, but we’ll get to see 12 dances tonight.

That’s because not only will each couple get to tackle a new style … but then the judges are going to work with them to improve on a previously impressive dance from earlier in the season (new routines and music will make an appearance.)

The first round, per ABC:

Argentine tango

"Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke: “Libertango,” Forever TangoMilo Manheim and Witney Carson: “Pray for Me,” The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar"

Now this is a showdown, but we have to give the edge to Juan Pablo and Cheryl, because they’ve already shown that they can bring the heat to a dance.

Contemporary

"Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe: “Stand Up for Something,” Andra DayJoe Amabile and Jenna Johnson: “This Year’s Love,” David Gray"

Contemporary should suit Evanna particularly; she does wonderful work with shapes and lines, and that (along with bringing emotions to the fore) is what’s required of a contemporary.

Salsa

"Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess: “GDFR,” Flo Rida"

There are only two words we need to say in response to this: Oh boy.

Waltz

"Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten: “Water,” Bishop Briggs"

By virtue of being a completely different style than anyone else in this round, Alexis and Alan have a good shot of standing out. It’s all about making sure that she keeps things elegant.

As for the second round, here’s what to expect:

Cha Cha

"Milo and Witney: “Good Feeling,” Austin French"

Carrie Ann Inaba will be this team’s mentor, and we expect her to focus on really getting Milo to truly contain all of his energy and turn out a clean cha cha.

Foxtrot

"Evanna and Keo: “Rewrite the Stars,” The Greatest Showman"

Unsurprisingly, Len Goodman will get to mentor at least one ballroom dance. It’s his specialty of the two main dance categories. Expect him to really put a lot of effort into the frame and body contact.

Jive

"Alexis and Alan: “Yes,” Merry ClaytonBobby and Sharna: “Gimme Some Lovin’,” The Spencer Davis Group"

Bruno Tonioli and Len will be splitting duties here, with Len taking point on Bobby and Sharna while Bruno will work with Alexis and Alan. One suspects that “kicks and flicks” will be Len’s watchwords for Bobby and Sharna (admit it, you read that in his voice); as for Alexis and Alan, we can see Bruno asking for something that actually isn’t sweet.

Quickstep

"Joe and Jenna: “Check it Out,” Oh the Larceny"

Carrie Ann is the nicest judge, and she’s mentoring these two.

Salsa

"Juan Pablo and Cheryl: “Tu Sonrisa,” Elvis Crespo"

Finally, by process of elimination, Bruno will mentor these two, which is unsurprising just based on the style. A salsa was how Juan Pablo and Cheryl got their first perfect score, and so the stakes will be particularly high.
