This week’s ominously titled episode of Arrow takes our heroes into unexpected places. Find out here how you can catch “The Demon” online.

That’s more like it. A couple weeks ago, Arrow appeared to be in danger of falling back into old habits, as the pursuit of Diaz stalled and characters butted heads over familiar disagreements. But “Level Two” injected some much-needed energy into the season by partnering up Felicity and Black Siren and reconciling Rene and Dinah.

Still, both alliances are tenuous at best. The question now is: how long will this last? Was “Level Two” an anomaly or a legitimate sign of better times ahead?

Judging by the flash-forwards, viewers shouldn’t get their hopes up about the future of Star City or Team Arrow. We learned that at some point, the Glades will rise up (justifiably, to be honest) and transform Oliver’s hometown into a strictly guarded dystopia (less justifiably). Also, Felicity is dead, or at least everyone thinks she is. But she managed to launch another company of her own, so there must be some good times ahead before things go bust.

At any rate, far from sapping Arrow of suspense, the flash-forwards have been among season 7’s more compelling elements. Tonight’s episode, titled “The Demon,” should inch closer to solving the various mysteries they raise. Below, you can read the official synopsis, courtesy of The CW:

"FELICTY DISCOVERS A SECRET ABOUT OLIVER; CURTIS GOES UNDERCOVER — Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) learns something new about Oliver (Stephen Amell) that shocks her. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) asks Curtis (Echo Kellum) to go undercover for ARGUS. Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) works with an unlikely ally."

What about Oliver could possibly shock Felicity? The couple has a relationship now spanning seven seasons, multiple breakups, and near-death experiences too numerous to count. Oliver may not have shared every detail of his past with his wife, but she understands the gist of it. (Read: he killed a lot of people!)

Regardless, it’s the Curtis storyline that we’re interested in. It was included in the synopsis for “Crossing Lines,” but it must have been moved around; that was admittedly a busy, if not exactly exciting, episode. On the downside, the change suggests that the storyline won’t have much of an impact on the overarching narrative. But Curtis has gotten so little to do this season that we’re happy to see even a B-plot focused on him.
