Fans have been clamoring for more grown up Riverdale, and the writers delivered in a big way. In fact, they saw our demands for more parental storylines, and did us one better. We get our gang playing their parents in the campiest, most tongue in cheek episode of the series, and I can’t begin to tell you how juicy it looks.

We’re in a Halloween time warp as each member of the gang gets to play a version of their own parents. KJ Apas goes raven-haired to play the morose and musical Fred. Lili Reihart will do her level best to capture the rebellious young Alice Cooper, but it’s going to be hard to out do Madschen Amick. Cole Sprouse is chewing through scenery as the stoic and pre-Serpent FP, Camilla Mendez plays Hermione Gomez as a mousey little wallflower, and they are all giving their ’90s best in the halls of Riverdale High.

The TV gods have answered my prayers as I watch these ham-fisted actors try to nuance their way through a episode that could be either fantastic or tragic. Like watching a dog learn to waltz on his hind legs.
