EZ’s forced to do a bad thing on the season finale of Mayans M.C. Here’s how you can watch all the action live.

What’s that saying? “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Yeah, that about sums up EZ’s journey this season on Mayans M.C.

The brilliant, good-natured hero who began this series trying to make amends for a terrible crime he committed a decade earlier looks to be ending this season as a spy, a traitor, and maybe even a murderer.

Look, EZ’s never been squeaky clean. The kid went to prison for killing a cop. However accidental that death may have been, we have to believe it left its mark on the young prospect. And Kurt Sutter hasn’t been shy about putting his leading man through the wringer over the course of 10 episodes.

EZ’s been forced to lie, betray his own blood, keep secrets from the people he loves, bury bodies, cover murders up, clean up massacres, and support a full-blown rebellion south of the border. He’s got blood and dirt and all kind of bad things on his hands. But the heartache isn’t over for the young kid just yet.

Last week, the show set up its climactic season finale, one that sees Lincoln Potter pulling all kinds of nasty strings, most of them attached to the Reyes family. He gave EZ a direct order to eliminate his former handler — an order EZ seems intent on following in the promo for this week’s episode.

EZ’s done terrible things, but premeditated murder feels like it’s on an entirely different level. Add to that his guilt over roping his brother Angel into his schemes and his confusion over the discovery of his father’s secret, bloody past and, well, we can pretty much guarantee J.D. Pardo is going to be serving us all kinds of angst in tonight’s season finale.

The club seems to be in on EZ’s murderous plan, at least, to an extent. Perhaps EZ’s decided to lie to his brothers and claim Agent Jimenez is the man that killed his mother all those years ago, justifying his need for revenge? We doubt we’ll find out the true killer until season two, but this would be a particularly brutal way to end Jimenez’s story.

While EZ’s plotting just how he’s going to off the former Federal agent, Angel looks to be managing things at the junkyard, covering for his brother once again, trying to minimize the damage this situation with Potter might cause.

As annoying as Lincoln Potter proved to be on Sons of Anarchy, he’s positively villainous on Mayans, particularly because the bonds of the club feel so frayed right now. There doesn’t seem to be the same foundation, the years spent in the trenches, covering for each other and backing each other that Sons had when Potter came along.

Whatever happens in the season finale, we’re sure the guy will continue to be a threat come season 2.
