Mickey’s 90th Spectacular live stream: Watch online
Mickey Mouse has dominated pop culture for 90 years. Now, it’s time to celebrate with a two-hour special that apparently has a lot going on.
We are not prepared for Mickey’s 90th Spectacular. In fact, we really haven’t been prepared for any of the celebrations of Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary. But the special, which will take up two of ABC’s three primetime hours this Sunday night, promises to be bigger and better (or at least just really big).
To wit, ABC has had three separate press releases about just who’s appearing at this show, who’s performing there, and so on. Most notable for international music fans will be Luis Fonsi and NCT 127, covering Latin pop as well as K-pop. Although NCT 127 might not have quite the same international cachet as say, BTS, it’s still a huge group and a major coup all the same. As for Fonsi, Americans will recognize him presumably from “Despacito.”
Notably, most of the songs announced aren’t actually from Mickey Mouse’s actual oeuvre so much as Disney music in general. Tori Kelly will perform “Colors of the Wind,” for example, and Leslie Odom Jr. will sing “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which at least has become associated with Disney rather than its source film. NCT 127 and Josh Groban alike will perform their own songs from their own careers.
But all the same, there will be Mickey, there will be Minnie, and there will be Disney magic all over these two hours. It’s a big show, and it’ll go up against Sunday Night Football and the like. Whether or not it’ll succeed is up to the viewers and the DVR users and so on and so forth.
It does have Kristen Bell appearing, though it’s unclear if she will host the show entirely or if it will just move between others, because Mickey usually doesn’t talk when he appears as a mascot, so he probably won’t be the host. He will, however, wear a snazzy golden jacket and a red bowtie. That’s perhaps what’s most important, right?

Hopefully, it’s as spectacular as the title promises.
