Grey’s Anatomy is popular for a host of reasons — attractive doctors, strange medical scenarios, lots of drama and lots of tangled relationships. Above all though, the most depressing aspect of the show is when we lose a beloved character.
Grey’s is known for either killing off or saying goodbye to a major character at least each other season if not every single one — and this season, we may goodbye to someone who hasn’t been given a lot of screen time lately, but is important nonetheless.
Per ABC’s synopsis for tonight’s episode, Meredith may be close to losing her only living parent, Thatcher.
"Meredith has a patient whose family is celebrating Day of the Dead, making the doctors remember loved ones they have lost. Richard shares unexpected news with Meredith about her father, Thatcher. Meanwhile, Teddy tries to tell Owen that she is pregnant but they get sidetracked, and Jo encourages Link to pursue one of the doctors."
The preview for tonight’s episode indicates something very dramatic and intense is coming — the beat of a heart monitor, the soft yet ominous music. And Thatcher’s health isn’t the only concern this episode. Teddy’s on the brink of revealing her pregnancy to Owen, which could break down any hope he has of a relationship with Amelia. Jo also seems to have some secret drama brewing that could upset Alex. Per the synopsis, it seems she simply is trying to set Jo up with another doctor, so we doubt that’s the issue. Things have been going pretty well for that Grey’s couple, so maybe it’s about time the show shakes things up between them.
