Arrow season 7 episode 3 live stream: Watch online
By Amy Woolsey
On Arrow this week, Oliver and his friends wade into treacherous territory as they form new alliances. Here’s how you can watch the episode.
It took longer than ideal, but Arrow might have finally figured out how to change. The season 5 finale appeared to signal the crossing of a threshold, both wrapping up our hero’s origin story and moving past that origin story. However, season 6 turned out to be a shaky transition, taking Oliver through the same motions as before (i.e. alternately being overly protective of his loved ones and alienating them).
In retrospect, it’s obvious that Oliver had to give up his secret identity in order to mature. Less predictable is that sending him to prison would allow the show to mature, or at least evolve. Not a lot has happened during the initial episodes of season 7, but it’s been fun seeing the characters adjust to their new reality.
Last week, Felicity drove the plot with her desperate attempts to find Diaz, which generated a bit of tension with Diggle. Thankfully, the tension proved short-lived, but so did their partnership, as Felicity left ARGUS and joined forces with Samandra Watson and the FBI Even if it comes back to bite her, we’re eager to see how this move plays out. You can hardly think of a team with more polar-opposite personalities than Felicity and Samandra.
This week, it looks like Curtis will take the spotlight. Below, you can read the official synopsis for the episode, titled “Crossing Lines”:
"CURTIS GOES UNDERCOVER FOR ARGUS — Still in prison, Oliver (Stephen Amell) faces his biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) gets an intriguing offer, and Diggle (David Ramsey) asks Curtis (Echo Kellum) to go undercover for ARGUS."
While Curtis’ charm has been an undeniable asset for the show, Arrow hasn’t quite realized the full potential of his character. For starters, it’s been frustratingly prudish about portraying his love life. And, for the most part, he spent season 6 playing a supporting role in other characters’ storylines. So, the idea of Curtis going undercover has promise, both giving him a substantial conflict and perhaps revealing a different side of him.
Gordon Verheul directs from a teleplay by Onalee Hunter Hughes and Sarah Tarkoff and a story by Elizabeth Kim.
