The thing to love most about Riverdale is how it never apologizes for what it is. It gets weird and campy, and the show may even go full throttle towards the most tongue in cheek content it can manage.

The latest trailer for “Chapter Thirty-Eight: As Above, So Below” hints at a confrontation between Veronica and her cartoon-villain father, Archie in a fight club, and Betty’s attempted recruiting to a cult, and Alice and FP conspiring to cover up “that night.”

Although we only get a glimpse of our girl Cheryl, her perfectly painted smirk and the hint of the “throne” on which she sits feels very promising. I’ve been very vocal about how underused she is, and I’ve got high hopes about “As Above, So Below.”

I’m less interested in Archie demanding another shirtless dude, “Make him bleed,” but I guess I’ll take it if it means I get a steamy scene with Alice and FP. They’re the real OTP.

I also can’t tell how seriously we’re supposed to take this whole “Gargoyles and Griffin” business, and the flash of Ethel dressed up to “play” isn’t helping to clear the air very much. I’m holding my breath they’re going to do it justice. However, you can’t ever tell which way it’s gonna go with this show.
