Poldark has quite the episode lined up for this week, including a promise of drama (and, of course, more surprises). Need help watching?

With this week’s episode, Poldark will reach the midpoint of season 4. Either this episode or the next might be when everything starts to truly peak — although there have been plenty of heart-stopping moments along the way, even in the premiere.

However, the synopsis is surprisingly short and uses a few buzzwords that have us quite suspicious about what we might see in this week’s hour from Cornwall. So far, things have been going fairly well for Ross and Demelza this season.

However, who’s to say that that won’t change with this week? “Episode Four” could be a doozy if there ever was one.

PBS’ pressroom provides this synopsis for this week’s episode:

"While George continues plotting his return to Westminster, Ross is reunited with his family at home. Then tragedy strikes in Cornwall, forcing him from the quiet life into action again."

“Tragedy strikes” prompting Ross to do things again? Now, that’s a problem. By virtue of being a politician, Ross doesn’t really have a “quiet life” anymore. Nor does he have the luxury of getting to relax with the mines to manage and a relationship to continue working on. Could it be something at the mines that rouses him to action once more? Or can we gamble that George’s plans have something to do with the tragedy?

He’s not that openly evil, or at least he hasn’t been in the past. However, this is a George who has recently been brought low and lost some of his beloved status. He may be willing to do other things that he wouldn’t have considered before.

However, it’s good that this episode will let Ross and Demelza be mostly together again. They’re always stronger together than apart, or at least they’re better at functioning and can bounce ideas off of each other.

As with everything on Poldark, it’s complicated. Could a family reunion lead to another baby for the family? Who knows? Here’s how we can all watch together:
