Doctor Who season 11 episode 3 live stream: Watch Rosa online

The brand-new season of Doctor Who continues this Sunday. Here’s everything you need to know to watch “Rosa” online and not miss a minute.

Now that Doctor Who has introduced its first female Doctor, brought on some new companions and taken then to an alien planet, it’s time for the next traditional step in their journey: A trip into the past.

That’s what looks set to happen in “Rosa,” an episode that will see Thirteen and friends journey back to the 1950s American Deep South, and, perhaps unsurprisingly given the date and location, become directly involved in the Civil Rights Movement.

Because the “Rosa” of the episode’s title is none other than Rosa Parks, the iconic activist who protested Alabama’s segregated transportation system by refusing to give up her seat on a local bus.

But it sounds like someone, or something – let’s be real, it’s probably aliens – is trying to change that history for some reason or another.

The official BBC synopsis reads as follows:

"Montgomery, Alabama. 1955. The Doctor and her friends find themselves in the Deep South of America. As they encounter a seamstress by the name of Rosa Parks, they begin to wonder whether someone is attempting to change history."

Thirteen and her friends will attempt to “keep history in order” by keeping Parks (played by guest star and former Sherlock actress Vinette Robinson) safe from a mysterious figure with an unidentified agenda. Why would a time traveler – or alien, whatever – want to prevent her protest from happening?

And is Doctor Who really equipped to tackle a topic with as much nuance as segregation and race in 1950s America?

The trailer certainly seems promising. But we’ll have to wait and see how that actually plays out in the full-length episode.
