This week’s Dancing with the Stars elimination simply made no sense, and it threw a wrench in the power rankings this week.

Dancing with the Stars had perhaps its weakest overall episode of the season so far tonight. After last week’s surfeit of high scores, including a perfect 30, a lot of couples struggled to even get 8s or above from Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli.

That’s before we even get to the elimination, which pretty clearly had the three judges upset if not outright protesting as much as they could with their mics off. The camera definitely showed some unhappy faces, though.

Let’s get into it.

Eliminated: Tinashe and Brandon Armstrong 26: 9, 8, 9

Amy Purdy was the third member of this tango, and as Brandon noted, it’s an even bigger issue in tango, which is mostly in frame. However, he showed both ladies off in the dance, and Tinashe seemed to be really enjoying things. Bonus points to Brandon for pulling both ladies across the floor with one arm for each of them.

“That was the most innovative choreography!” Carrie Ann praised, and the only note that this couple got was from Len on Tinashe’s neck.

If they had not been eliminated, they would have been second in these power rankings. That should tell you how weird this week was overall.
