Dancing with the Stars week 4 power rankings: The worst elimination
Low tier
9. Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson: 15
This reviewer has never been high on Grocery Store Joe, and this week only helped prove why. There were a lot of shirtless men in overalls, including Val in the background and Jordan Kimball as the third person in the trio salsa.
But even though it was trying very hard to be sexy, sometimes trying too hard to be sexy ends in some ridiculous dancing … and the dancing, sad to say, was not pleasant. “That was a unique experience,” Bruno said.
8. Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess: 20
A cha cha with Lindsey Stirling to … of all things … “U Can’t Touch This” was how Dancing with the Stars decided to close the night out. It was definitely designed to win the fan votes more than judges’ points, as Sharna even nodded along when Tom Bergeron brought that up, since there was a lot more of MC Hammer than cha cha.
At least it was more interesting to watch than Joe and Jenna? The judges had some faint praises.
7. John Schneider and Emma Slater: 21
For this Argentine tango, Joey Fatone, he of both season 4 and season 15, and John Schneider became gods among men — or they tried, at least. The costuming certainly didn’t evoke it. But we’re mostly here for choreography, and these two guys made some beautiful pictures with Emma, including a dual throw lift. This was a striking piece of work after the midpoint, as Carrie Ann told him.
However, it didn’t score particularly high, and it didn’t get particularly watchable until partway through. Although it’s the top of the low tier, it just wasn’t good enough to make it to the top.
