Lock, Shock, and Barrel
Speaking of the three kids (okay we don’t really know if they are actually kids, but they certainly seem like they may have been at one point) who helped to kidnap Santa Claus for Jack Skellington, we have to makes sure that Lock, Shock, and Barrel get their due credit. Not only are they critical to the story, but they also deliver some great moments in The Nightmare Before Christmas.
And let’s not forget that thanks to this dastardly trio, we have the bizarre but amazingly catchy single of “Kidnap the Sandy Claws.” Throughout the song, we get to hear their awful ideas for how they are going to get their hands on Santa Claus, and somehow it just sticks. The song is creepy and chilling, but also truly fitting for the movie and the scene.
Beyond their musical prowess, there is also their relationship that keeps us watching. It seems like these three are siblings and if that’s true, then really it makes sense when you look at how they interact with each other.
Their interactions are equal parts humorous and engaging, while also being just as bizarre as the movie itself. We love these three, even as we would not want to be stuck in a room with them (they did kidnap Santa Claus with some awful ideas for what to do with him, after all).
