The Timelessness of the story
Finally, what makes The Nightmare Before Christmas so enduring is that it is a timeless story for many reasons. Even after 25 years, the message and overall plot holds up. There is nothing about the movie that makes us think this no longer applies or is irrelevant.
This is not your typical Disney movie even today, and it is also not your typical holiday tale (whichever holiday you choose to watch the movie in honor of). Instead, this is something so unique that it is able to stand on its own as a testament to the mastery of Tim Burton.
From the romance of two quirky, flawed characters, to the desire to change things up in order to reinvigorate one’s life, we completely fall in love with this movie every time. And the fact that after all these years, we can still fall into the story and feel the magic of Jack, Sally, and the people of Halloween Town makes this a timeless story we think will still be on repeat in another 25 years.
