Jack’s Shakespeare
Obviously, Jack is a big part of what makes this movie so special, so it makes sense that many of the things that make us love this movie revolve around him. He is the man of the hour (well technically hour and 15 minutes), so his scenes tend to be the ones we think of when it comes to this movie. And sure there is also Sally, of course, and her story, but when we think of The Nightmare Before Christmas, it is always Jack Skellington that pops the most.
And what better way to appreciate Jack and all of his idiosyncrasies than to watch him recite Shakespeare? As a skeleton, he is able to do something not many other people can do: he can pull off his own head in order to quote Shakespeare (and he knows it). And the fact that he points it out to us makes it all the more quirky and humorous.
It may be a Halloween-meets-Christmas tale, but throwing in some Shakespeare is just a must. We love Jack’s ability to show how cultured he is and what better way to do that than by quoting the Bard. Plus, you have to admit it is certainly quirky to have a Disney movie protagonist quoting Shakespeare.
