Angela Bassett talks American Horror Story and Marie Laveau

Angela Bassett was asked about American Horror Story in an interview, and she thinks the character would make a great addition to Apocalypse.

If you’re a fan of American Horror Story and watching the current season, you know that it’s largely centering around characters that were first shown in the third season of the show. With the witches from Coven back in the picture, fans  are seeing many of their favorite characters and faces return to the series.

Almost every witch from the season is returning for Apocalypse, but there is one notable exception. Angela Bassett’s character from the show, Marie Laveau, will not be returning.

Apocalypse is primarily a mix of the first and third seasons, and fans are wondering where Angela Bassett is. Even though Marie Laveau did die at the end of Coven, so did many of the other witches that are now returning. There’s no reason the character couldn’t have been brought back from the dead, too.

According to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bassett herself is disappointed, too. She said that she has the latest season on her DVR but hasn’t watched it yet and also said, “But I mean, come on. Where’s Marie Laveau? I’m even a little bit in my feelings that Marie didn’t come back.”

Bassett has been busy working on 9-1-1, another Ryan Murphy show. Bassett also talked a little bit about her co-star, Connie Britton (another American Horror Story star who will be back for Apocalypse). Connie has since left the show, but Bassett says she might not be done with 9-1-1 for good.

When asked about Britton’s possible return, Bassett had this to say.

“It is absolutely possible. We love Connie — Connie is family. She’s a phenomenal actress and a delightful person, and if she has a free Tuesday, come on over and give it to us! Anytime she wants to — anytime we need her — she’s there.”

We think that Murphy and Bassett could have found a way to add Marie Laveau into the season for at least an episode or two. Come on!
