Danny Strong – Jonathan

His role in the Buffy-verse: Jonathan was one of the more tragic characters in this universe, but the absolute most successful in the real world. Danny Strong played Jonathan as an angry outsider, desperate for the acceptance and attention of the Scooby Gang.

His desperation caused a lot of problems, some of which were completely unintended. However, when he joined forces with Andrew and Warren to make up Sunnydale’s own version of a trio of supervillains, he went too far. That’s not to say the gang didn’t try to include him in some ways, but it was never enough for Doyle. He dabbled in some really destructive magic that wrought havoc on the whole town.

His post-Buffy career: Poised for big things, Strong went on to play Paris Gellar’s Yale boyfriend and fellow reporter Doyle on Gilmore Girls. He also played Danny Siegel on Mad Men, and Albert Fekus on Justified. He’s absolutely killing it in Hollywood, winning two Emmys for creating the Fox juggernaut, Empire. He also wrote both the first and second Hunger Game movies.

Where is he now? Strong is still killing it over there at Empire, and he reprised his role as Doyle for the Gilmore Girls reboot in 2016. You can catch him on the sleeper hit Billions on FX, playing Todd Krakow, and as executive producer for the upcoming Proven Innocent.
