Game of Thrones season 8: Another clue about the ending emerges

Game of Thrones season 8 may very well not make every single fan happy, and the cast is being very clear about that, including Sophie Turner.

Sophie Turner has long since finished filming season 8 of Game of Thrones, and even though she may have a new movie on the way — Dark Phoenix — that doesn’t mean she won’t be asked questions about it. Apparently, one thing has really stuck with her: what the ending is, and how it will impact those who have followed this show for years upon years.

According to IGN, she said, “I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think. I think it will be really interesting to see people’s reactions.”

Over on Take the Black Live and WiC Club, Winter is Coming’s Dan Selcke and I have spent quite a lot of time discussing what the ending should or might look like at the end of this eight-season ride — how it might work tonally as well in terms of events that may play out. The two of us really enjoy the show, and we’ve only been able to come to some things that would work. Part of it is that there are five episodes between now and the finale.

Perhaps the most obvious split might be what happens between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. While some have responded positively to the relationship, others, myself included, haven’t been so solid on how that could end. If things end with them together, that itself might split the fanbase. If certain rumors come to pass, that could split the fanbase.

However, that’s just the obvious response. Turner plays none other than Sansa Stark, a character who has undergone development from being a pretty privileged young teen to a powerhouse in her own right politically. Rumors have it that she may survive. But if Sansa dies — Sansa, who has grown so much — then that, too, might make some fans upset.
