Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Shedding a little light on the subject

After dropping perhaps the biggest Game of Thrones season 8 spoiler we’ll see before the show airs, the same source is following up with more details.

Warning: There are those who like to know the twists to the plots of things before going in, even for things like Game of Thrones. There are those who don’t.

Game of Thrones spoilers fans have had some time to process the reports that Tyrion Lannister will die in season 8, presumably as a sentence for treason. But now, r/freefolk has compiled the list of the latest reveals from the same source, Frikidoctor, into an easy-to-read set of bullet points.

In the interest of brevity, we’ll start by combining the participants and non-participants. As noted by r/freefolk, who didn’t participate in these scenes, here’s who didn’t make it to the Dragonpit: “Jaime, Cersei, Gendry, Jaqen, the Waif, Yara, Yohn Royce, Jon (and his body double).” Meanwhile, those there were: “Tyrion, Davos, Sansa, Arya, Bran, Sam, Brienne, Robin, Grey Worm with Unsullied guards, and 2 new characters (one with a golden armour, one with a beard) [sic].”

Let’s start with the significant points of who wasn’t there: Jon, Jaime, and Cersei. Jaime and Cersei might be very well be dead by the time this scene comes around. After all, the evidence is looking strong for Jaime, and unless Game of Thrones pulls a wild maneuver, Cersei looks to be even higher on the death list. As for Jon, it would represent something of a change; wouldn’t he be passing the sentence and possibly even carrying out the execution? It’s a principle he learned from Ned Stark a long time ago.

As for who is there, a few names stand out: Robin (presumably Robin Arryn, who somehow is still alive and presumably still nominally controls the Knights of the Vale), Brienne of Tarth, and Davos Seaworth. Could the latter two be there to testify against Tyrion? Perhaps more importantly, why would Robin Arryn be there? Does he suddenly rise to power as an ally of his cousins, Sansa, Arya, and Jon? He’s still quite young, but losing Littlefinger might have finally caused him to see the light, and he has had experiences with Tyrion before, though as an even younger boy.

Additionally, for those wondering why Daenerys doesn’t pop up, the leaks have already noted that Emilia Clarke reportedly didn’t film in Seville at all.

Finally, the last bullet point notes that there probably won’t be a battle in the Dragonpit, because the Tyrion trial supposedly is the only thing taking place there. It’s not a huge surprise, since the ruins of Italica don’t seem particularly easy to film in, but it’s good to know that it’s generally being reserved for hugely important scenes.

If these spoilers turn out to be credible, when will this scene take place? We can’t help but think it might be part of episode 6, the series finale, for one last twist, but that’s just a guess. Tell us what you think below!
