Anne-Marie had a lot to live up to this summer. In case you didn’t know, she was the vocalist featured on the massive summer 2017 hit “Rockabye” by Clean Bandit, and she was gunning for another hit this summer when she teamed up with masked EDM producer Marshmello. The pair managed to release what can only be called the friend-zone anthem, because that’s exactly what Anne-Marie is trying to drill into a guy’s head with the lyrics.

She sings “You’re not my lover, more like a brother, I known you since we were like 10” and makes sure that this guy knows it’s neeeever going to happen, because they’re nothing more than friends. If this isn’t a boss girl anthem for the summer, what is? Some guys will never get the message, but hopefully this song helped a few clueless dudes realize that those girls just weren’t into them. But if not, at least it was still a fun song to party to all summer!
