Monopoly is getting in on the Fortnite craze

This isn’t your parent’s Monopoly game anymore, as the Fortnite craze extends its reach to the classic board game. Now you can get your Fortnite fix offline too.

It’s official, we now live in a Fortnite world. From parents hiring their students Fortnite tutors to a Monopoly board game, this is an online gaming experience that has been able to hop offline in style.

The new Monopoly: Fortnite Edition combines the best of both worlds. Not only do you get some of the classic Monopoly feel with this game, but you also get the world of Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Forget the classic properties of Boardwalk and Park Place. This version of the game is giving you properties like Haunted Hills and Titles Towers. And you definitely won’t be using the top hat or dog to get around the board either. Instead, according to Mashable, it seems that “players will get to pick their favorite Fortnite character skin to control as they move around the board.”

However, unlike the classic board game we have all come to know and love (or tolerate), this edition of the game will see players “roll action die to damage their opponents, build a wall, or get a health pack.” That’s right, this is not your standard property buying game.

Instead of picking chance cards to move around the board, go to jail, or potentially collect some extra bucks, there are storm cards that act like the deadly storm found in Fortnite: Battle Royale. When you draw these game cards, pieces of the reality on the board end up being overtaken, which means players have less room to maneuver on the board. This can force players to remain in one portion of the game board.

Although the typical Fortnite game can see up to 100 players participating at a time, that is not the case with the Monopoly edition of the game. Of course, if you want to give it a try you may need to make up a bigger board and expand on the rules a bit. Then again, it’s unlikely that you will be able to get 100 people to even want to sit down for this particular board game. You’ll be playing for at least a week.

Also. Make no mistake: Pokémon Go and Fortnite earn a lot of money. light

Did we need a Fortnite edition of Monopoly? Maybe not. But now that we have it, who else wants to sit down for a friendly (or not-so-friendly) game of Monopoly: Fortnite Edition? If you really are looking to expand your board game collection, this edition of the classic real estate trading game hits stores on Oct. 1.
