The actress who will be playing Iris West in the DCEU’s The Flash movie has confirmed that filming on the project will not begin until at least 2019.

When it comes to the DCEU, there seems to be a lot of uncertainty. Whether we are talking about Batman or The Flash, there are a lot of unknowns when it comes to production, casting confirmations and more.

While we know that there will be a solo Flash movie with Ezra Miller as the titular character, with Kiersey Clemons in the role of Iris West, that is almost all we know. After a bit of searching the film finally found its two directors — Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley — but even that hasn’t pushed The Flash into filming ready territory.

According to Clemons during a red carpet interview with Variety, the film will definitely not begin filming this year.

Clemons was very careful not to reveal any information about the project, although she did admit to being in contact with Ezra Miller. She specifically stated, “What I will say is that they get to approve every job that I do and so far I’m not doing Flash for the rest of the year.”

It certainly seems like Clemons might know something more but that she is not at liberty to talk about it yet. Of course, she could be as in the dark as the rest of us.

The Flash was originally supposed to be released in theaters in March of this year, but with so many disappointments for the DCEU, the project was ultimately pushed back. At the time, there was talk of the Flashpoint storyline being utilized for the film, only now that idea seems to be in question as well. There’s now an expectation that the movie will hit theaters in 2020, which would mean filming would most likely happen at some point in 2019.

No matter which storyline The Flash ultimately tells, at least we know that Ezra Miller and Kiersey Clemons are still set to be a part of the DCEU. We may even get to see Ray Fisher’s Cyborg and even Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman make a cameo.

We are certainly holding out hope that filming on The Flash does begin in 2019, like Clemons own words seemed to suggest when she said, “Let’s hope for 2019.” As fans of DC and Flash, we can’t wait to see Ezra Miller back in action with his quirky sense of humor and lightning fast speed.
