Arthur dies and Merlin doesn’t even get to be on the Round Table? Yeah, of course we’re going to be sad. Merlin, a fan favorite television show, is now among titans in regards to our devotion. Up there with the Harry Potters and LOSTs of the world, Merlin is still talked about in internet fandoms.

Fanfiction hasn’t stopped for the show, and it probably won’t any time soon. Then again, isn’t the show technically fanfiction for the lore about King Arthur and Merlin the wizard? Showing the growth of every character we had come to know, Merlin‘s finale was unbelievable in the sense that we truly didn’t want to believe it to be true.

Then again, all good things must end, even lives. And so the death of Arthur hit us and we couldn’t escape the pain, much like Merlin who just waited for his death to come. Even now, years after the finale, fans are still trying to theorize why and how the finale happened, or they’re writing fanfictions that conveniently forget that Arthur is dead.

We can’t blame them. It shows the dedication that fans have to this show and why the finale hit so close to home. Merlin is a classic British show and probably will be for the rest of this century.
