Boys Meets World

If you didn’t grow up with Cory Matthews and his friends, I’m very sorry but it was a perfect childhood. Boy Meets World was one of those shows that taught an entire generation life lessons and brought us closer to our friends.

Who didn’t want a friendship like Cory and Shawn? Falling in love in middle school and marrying each other? Sign us up! But probably the figure we all wanted in our lives most was Mr. Feeny. William Daniels played the exasperated teacher who lived next door to the Matthews who, without his consent, became the voice of reason for young Cory.

So in the finale, when Cory goes to ask Mr. Feeny his advice, it hits more than it ever had before. This man, who never had children of his own, saw the Matthews and their friends as his responsibility. In a weird way, we all felt like we could talk to Mr. Feeny and he’d be there for us all.

Saying goodbye to Cory, Topanga, Eric, Shawn, Jack, and Mr. Feeny was terrible, and it is what made the spinoff, Girl Meets World, so heartfelt. We wanted to be back with our friends, even if it took a little while for us to get Shawn to join the show.
