Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Growing up with Will and the Banks family was something almost every ’90s kid went through. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air knew how to punch you in the gut and make you want to dance to Tom Jones as if no one was watching.

In the finale, the Banks family is moving to the east coast, but Will has to stay in California to finish college. As if their goodbye wasn’t bad enough, we had to watch as the Banks family packed up the house that Will had known for years.

With each member of the family, Will said his goodbyes. Carlton and Will’s was maybe one of the saddest because, while happy, it reminded us that these two cousins who loved each other so much were going to be separated. Granted, they are family so it isn’t really a goodbye, but to the audience, their departure meant that we wouldn’t be a part of the Banks family any longer.

Ashley silently hugged Will goodbye, Uncle Phil never gave up on him, and, by the end of the episode, Will walked through the empty Bel-Air home and reminded us all that nothing is forever. And that is probably one of the saddest realizations of all.
