Pushing Daisies

Want to be in denial and pretend that Pushing Daisies didn’t end? Great, same. Honestly, it’s a perfect show. Based around Ned the Piemaker and his magical ability to touch dead things and bring them back to life for one minute, the show was a victim of the writer’s strike in the worst possible way.

Originally meant to be a cliffhanger because the show wasn’t canceled, the finale was changed when it became clear that we would not be getting season 3 of Pushing Daisies. Ned and Chuck, who cannot touch each other because he brought her back to life, are preparing to start their lives together with their new family while Chuck’s aunts, Lily and Vivian, are struggling to find their way.

Emerson is preparing to meet his daughter, and it truly feels like a wonderful end to a season, not a show. Because that’s what it was meant to be. Fans are obviously still bitter that the show ended; the actual conclusion to Pushing Daisies isn’t sad, but rather the circumstances surrounding why it ended.

We lost a true gem of a television show and for years, we’ve all cried about how we want it back. Even recently, Bryan Fuller stated that season 3 could be a good replacement for the canceled Roseanne reboot. Maybe we’ll eventually get a continuation of Ned and Chuck’s story but, until then, we’re going to be sad about the cancellation of Pushing Daisies.
