5 things we want in season 2 of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger

Cloak and Dagger was renewed for a second season, premiering next year. Here’s our wish list of what we need to see when Tyrone and Tandy return.

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger ended its first season with a big bang. Not only did Tandy and Tyrone basically switch roles from where they started the series, but Detective O’Reilly managed to survive getting shot… and falling into a swamp.

Plus it looks like she’s going to have some fun superpowered side effects from all of that.

This first season was a solid effort, consistent all the way, albeit a little slow to start (but what Marvel show isn’t). The last few episodes amped things up, and it makes the anticipation for next season all the better.

Here are just five things we would love to see in Cloak and Dagger’s next season.

MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER – “Ghost Stories” – This episode of “MarvelÕs Cloak & Dagger” airs Thursday, July 19 (8:00 – 9:00 p.m. EDT) on Freeform. (Freeform/Alfonso Bresciani)

Justice for Tyrone

Tyrone is most definitely still on the run from the law. Honestly, it’s not where I expected him to end the season, but it seems almost fitting.

It’s everything that his parents didn’t want to happen. It’s what could have happened to Billy if he hadn’t been killed. It could just tear their family apart if not for his mother’s intuition in those last few minutes.

Still, Tyrone’s being framed for a murder he didn’t commit. With all the crap the NOPD has already put him through, I don’t think he’ll be trusting the cops anytime soon (especially whenever O’Reilly shows up as Mayhem).

We need to have some sort of justice for Tyrone, whether it’s the cops dropping his case or Tandy managing to frame someone else. Just so long as it’s resolved before the season ends, that would be just fine.

Some healing between Tandy and her mother

A lot still remains unspoken between Tandy and her mom. For the last seven years, Tandy idolized her dead father and wanted retribution for his death. That is — until she lived through her mother’s memory of being physically abused by him.

Now she outed Roxxon for her mother’s benefit in hopes that it will turn things around for her. Plus, she’s moved back in with her mom, which is a big step for her.

But… does her mom truly know everything Tandy has done for her in the last few weeks? They need to have a serious sit-down, hash-out session sooner rather than later that doesn’t involve Roxxon assassins popping up out of nowhere.

There’s a lot between them that needs to get resolved. And the sooner it does, the better off both women will be.

More Mina Hess

And I’m not just saying this because she listens to the Kinks. No — Mina Hess was a welcome addition to this series, providing us with what Tandy could have been if not for the oil rig explosion.

It’s quite possible that Tandy will end up taking that job offer from Mina, but who knows what sort of state Roxxon is in now that the cat’s out of the bag.

More importantly, Mina was infected in the season finale and then mysteriously healed when Tandy and Tyrone saved the city. I would love to see Mina grappling with what happened to her, running tests on herself to try to figure out what happened. Because we all know that wasn’t the end of whatever mysteries are below the surface of New Orleans.

And I have a feeling Mina may be the key to unlocking it all.

MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER – “Lotus Eaters” – A mysterious man may be the key for Tandy to finally clear her fatherÕs name. Unfortunately getting the answers she needs will be difficult as the man has been in a catatonic state for almost a decade. But it might not be so impossible for two people with extraordinary powers. With Tyrone alongside to help, the two test their combined powers for the first time. This episode of “MarvelÕs Cloak & Dagger” airs Thursday, July 12 (8:00 – 9:00 p.m. EDT) on Freeform. Tandy and Tyrone being friends

Look, Tandy and Tyrone didn’t hang out as much as we would have liked this first season. Which is understandable — it took them half the season to realize how linked they truly are.

But their interactions weren’t always positive or friendly. Most of them ended with harsh words and bitter yelling, and they only seemed to make up because the situation required it.

Now that their roles are completely reversed in life, they’re going to need each other more than ever. And now that they know what they’re capable of together, it only makes sense for them to start working together in a bigger capacity.

A crossover with Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

None of the Marvel properties like to cross over with each other, unless they’re on Netflix together. Well… Disney owns ABC and Freeform, right? Can they count as the same thing?

Plus, both Cloak and Dagger and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. return next year in the summertime. Shouldn’t they be filming around the same time and be able to have Tandy pop over to a S.H.I.E.L.D. base? Or FitzSimmons notice an unnatural energy spike and take a quick trip down to New Orleans, only to run into Tyrone?

Alas, all we can do is hope.
