23. Naboo (Star Wars)

Maybe treacherous worlds are all a bit much. After all, there’s adventure, and then there’s having a bunch of angry people throw spears at you while you’re motoring along in your futuristic sky motorcycle.

If you’d like something altogether more relaxing, then check out Naboo. Well, be sure to check it out either before or after all of the blockades and battles. Those are, to say the least, a real bummer.

Again, for the scientifically minded, Naboo is a wonder. It lacks a molten core, instead boasting a plasma-rich interior. In fact, it’s possible to zip right through the core of the planet via subterranean waterways, though you’ll have to avoid the massive sea monsters that lurk there. Oh, and if you see the most famous and least-favored son of the Gungan people, Jar Jar Binks? Just avoid eye contact and keep going.

The surface of Naboo is lush and inviting. Its natural realm boasts a series of aggressively green landscapes, from grasslands to lakefronts. Plus, the land animals are reportedly much more gentle than the sea creatures.

If you need a more urban environment, the cities of Naboo are so aesthetically pleasing that you’ll think they captured a bunch of Art Deco folks from Earth and let them go nuts. It’s easy to get entranced even by their civic architecture, which, like any other building, reflects the just-so balance between the built and natural environments. Just never mind the actual civics, which involves elected monarchs with term limits. The people of Naboo hopefully don’t expect visitors to get it.
