The growth of the characters

Moira, David, and Alexis don’t share their father’s work ethic, but they swallow their pride and make an effort to help the family out any way they can. Moira accepts jobs she never thought she would take before (like being the face of a cheap wine company), Alexis actually works (GASP) as a receptionist at the local veterinary clinic, and David gets a job in a nearby clothing store in Elmdale. He even takes initiative and comes up with an idea to help him find his way in Schitt’s Creek, which makes his father proud.

Of course, the Rose family still has their quirks — Moira will always be an artiste first and foremost — but it’s touching to see them adapt to their new environment so quickly and actually make friends with the locals. That shows that they weren’t so bad to begin with and that the Rose family may not be completely vapid and self-obsessed.

David’s fashion

The Rose family may have to adjust to small-town living, but that doesn’t mean they have to blend in. David has a distinct sense of style, and from season 1 to season 4, he somehow still always looks immaculate, decked out in head to toe designer duds.

David doesn’t seem to own many colors, but he rocks black, white, and grey every day. His sweater collection is enviable, and even though people may make comments about his Rick Owens drop-crotch pants or flamboyant Givenchy tops, he stays true to himself. And we love it! Seriously, if we could raid any character’s closet, it would be David.

He confidently walks down the streets of Schitt’s Creek as if it’s New York City or Milan, and no amount of money can buy that.

The perfect amount of ridiculous

Look, a show about a rich family who earned their fortune from a video store chain moving to a town that they OWN called Schitt’s Creek is bound to be ridiculous. Nobody expected a show called Schitt’s Creek to be a serious, thought-provoking drama. But it’s fun!

Best of all, the show manages to be both ridiculous, but also sweet and heartwarming. You hate the characters, but also love them. You laugh, and you may cry — okay you proooobably won’t cry, but there are some really cute, romantic moments that might bring a tear to your eye! Schitt’s Creek strikes the perfect balance between absurd and hilarious, and that’s why you need to be watching it.

It’s simply hilarious

What more can I say? Schitt’s Creek is simply the best (spoiler, but if you watched the show, you’d get that reference!). Get your butt on Netflix and start binging it ASAP!
