Toy Story 3

After everything we’ve said about the Toy Story franchise, you must have expected this one to be number one!

With a 99 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, this 2010 sequel was called a “rare second sequel that really works” by “deftly blending comedy, adventure, and honest emotion.” This time around, Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the bedroom gang find themselves donated to a daycare center as Andy prepares to take the big leap to college. As you might expect, a wild gang of toddlers with sticky hands and snotty noses aren’t exactly gentle on the toys. Thus, they hatch one of their sure-fire plans to get them back home to Andy.

Some new toys join the gang on their adventure to escape, like swinging “bachelor” Ken and Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear. The toys have their work cut out for them, and in the end, almost go up in flames — literally. It wouldn’t be a Toy Story movie without tugging at our heartstrings. Toy Story 3 accomplished that, probably more than all the others.

Like we mentioned in the previous slide, what really touched audiences was getting to see Andy grow up. So many viewers have aged just like Andy, and were headed off to college themselves. The toys saying goodbye to Andy was almost like a goodbye to us, too. But we all know there’s a new Toy Story movie due out next year, so I guess it wasn’t goodbye after all!

Here’s hoping the next step in the franchise can live up to the impossibly high expectations that fans have for Toy Story 4. If they manage to one-up themselves yet again, they’ll have done the impossible.
