Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Well, the Starks told us so

Although it seems filming has mostly concluded when it comes to Game of Thrones season 8, that doesn’t mean that a few more spoilers haven’t surfaced.

Warning: Spoilers are warm, but the jokes for this piece of Game of Thrones season 8 news will be cool. Yes, that’s a pun.

Technically speaking, Game of Thrones season 8 has finally wrapped up. That means that there’ll likely be a dearth of actual spoiler-based news for a while, right?

Well, we here at Culturess are mere mortals, and American mortals at that, meaning that last week was a bit of a travesty in terms of keeping an eye on Belfast. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case from a fan who happened to snap some photos and drop a particularly interesting tidbit in the caption of her post.

“I did see smoke coming out of King’s Landing / Red Keep and it’s surrounded by ice…” she tweeted, adding these pictures. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to really show the ice in question:

Then again, she also mentions that she had a tough time getting close due to security. Still, let’s take this report as true and go from there.

To go from snowflakes just starting to fall at the end of season 7 to full-blown ice everywhere in season 8 suggests that something supernatural is at hand. After all, King’s Landing is coastal and particularly warm at that, so that’s a huge change in climate. Even replies to that tweet suggest that yes, this is the Night King’s doing.

This appears to mostly confirm that the Night King does attack King’s Landing and breaches the walls. Whether or not it’s Viserion that sets the city on fire could still be debated, though, due to the size of what’s believed to be a dragon prop. Perhaps we’ll get some aerial combat between the Night King and Daenerys Targaryen (with perhaps Jon Snow riding Rhaegal) over the city?

Next: Game of Thrones and the zodiac: Which character represents your sign?

That would certainly be a wonderful way to cap the season (and the series) off.
