We’ll go deeper into the swamp on this Sunday’s episode of Preacher.

Last week left us with a shootout, some hard feelings, and a soul that got away. Now Jesse is forced to work with his Gran’ma for the time being, until he can get to the Grail again, which may prove difficult thanks to Tulip’s one-man shootout.

AMC’s description of the third episode of the season, titled “Gonna Hurt,” says:

"While Jesse works to pay back his debt to Gran’ma, Tulip and Cassidy risk their safety as they formulate their own plans to get out of Angelville."

It’s going to be interesting seeing what happens after reading that description. As we know from the premiere, Cassidy has a thing for Tulip. So that begs the question: what is their plan? Why are they working it out together without Jesse? It makes you wonder what Cassidy says to Tulip to get her to agree.

The preview for the episode shows that we’re all going to be on the edges of our seats. With Jesse telling Tulip not to go near his Gran’ma, stabbing Cassidy in the shoulder, and finally donning a top hat in the Tombs, speculation is high. There’s also a brief glimpse of God dismounting a motorcycle with a mysterious blonde and a cut of Gran’ma slapping Jesse across the face.

The sneak peek provided by AMC has a little more interaction between Jesse and Jody, while TC asks Tulip a very… inappropriate question that tells us, yes, this show is going to go there with TC’s character. Seeing Tulip’s reaction to it will undoubtedly be a highlight. Here’s how you can catch it:

Preacher has always been a show that needs to build up a little steam. The first two episodes have been exploration, tentative dipping of toes into the psyche of the new characters. With “Gonna Hurt,” it looks like we’re going to begin to see that trademark Preacher weirdness.
