Ant-Man and the Wasp’s mid-credits scene gives clues about Avengers 4

Ant-Man and the Wasp explains what happens to the crew during Avengers: Infinity War. But there’s lots more there to speculate about Avengers 4.

Warning! If you haven’t seen Ant-Man and the Wasp, make sure you see that first. Then, come back here when you do!

It’s only been a few months since Avengers: Infinity War came out, and we’re all still wondering how the Avengers are going to save the day. Luckily for them, Scott Lang is now off house arrest and ready to help! Unluckily for them, he’s trapped in the Quantum Realm by the mid-credits scene.

Now that we know how Ant-Man and the Wasp ties in with Infinity War, it’s time to look to the future for Avengers 4. But how much can we learn about Avengers 4 through one short scene? Quite a lot, actually. And this time, MCU newcomer Janet Van Dyne might be the one to help us.

As we learn throughout the movie, Janet Van Dyne has become a bit of an expert when it comes to the Quantum Realm. She only spent 30 years down there. So, as she advised Scott on traveling through the Quantum Realm, she also dropped a bit of info that might be key to helping out the Avengers as they seek to undo the damage from Thanos.

She tells him to avoid an area known as the Time Vortex, as pointed out by MCU Cosmic, since it appears to be a place that he can’t be rescued from. But as scary as it may sound, a Time Vortex might actually be what the Avengers need.

We mentioned before that time travel seems to be a big part of the next Avengers plot, with the team needing to go back in time — possibly to recollect the Infinity Stones to make a gauntlet of their own. Not to mention, earlier in January, Paul Rudd was spotted as Ant-Man filming a scene with the Avengers 1-era Captain America. So someway, somehow, Ant-Man will be joining up again with the Avengers and time traveling with them.

The only problem is, how is Scott going to get out of the Quantum Realm? Some theories, as mentioned in the MCU Cosmic story, think that Scott might actually be stuck in the realm for several years before he’s able to free himself. (Could it be by escaping through the Time Vortex?)

This would explain why rumors suggest an older Cassie Lang will appear in Avengers 4. The movie might not happen immediately after Infinity War, but it could pick up a few years after.

While we don’t know for certain how the events will play out, Scott Lang certainly has a lot of work ahead of him. Here’s to hoping he understands Hank Pym’s technology enough to operate it and save the world. If not, surely Tony Stark or Bruce Banner can give him a hand.
