Star Trek (Zoe Saldana)

The 2009 Star Trek was met with interesting critiques (mainly from male fans who didn’t like the way James T. Kirk was being handled). That being said, it is a great reboot to a classic series and introduces an entirely new generation to the love that comes with being a part of the Star Trek fandom.

Zoe Saldana brought to life Nyota Uhura, a communications officer on the USS Enterprise. While she is in a relationship with Spock, she is a completely independent woman and one of the more prominent characters in the reboot.

The character has always been revolutionary but it seems as if she is much more involved alongside the men of the Enterprise. Maybe it is Zoe’s magnetism that made her a more important crew member or maybe it was everyone realizing that Uhura is simply amazing.

Not so great is that she and Spock are in love with each other but you win some you lose some. (Okay to be fair, it’s not that bad. Spock just never seemed very romantic.) Overall, it is a pretty incredible movie and one that every Star Trek fan (or Zoe Saldana fan) should see!
