Crazy Heart (Jeff Bridges)

Remember when Jeff Bridges was in Iron Man as Obadiah Stane, dear friend to Howard Stark and confidant to Tony? No? Okay, well he was so that means we’re going to talk about Jeff Bridges and his Oscar-winning role of Bad Blake in Crazy Heart.

Based on the novel of the same name, the movie follows Bad Blake, a washed-up country star still trying to make money performing around the country. He falls in love with a young reporter and her son and the movie shows his struggles with his alcoholism and trying to come to terms with the fact that he’s not a star anymore.

It is a great commentary on fame and how fickle it is while also grasping the idea of aging and understanding that things change. Jeff Bridges is incredible in the role and it truly is upsetting that we couldn’t have seen more of him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That first Iron Man was so good because of the dedication of the cast (Jeff Bridges included) and if only there was a way to bring Obadiah Stane back into the MCU without it being cheesy. Who knows, there’s still Avengers 4 out there.
