Kirk Cameron

What made him a heartthrob: I’d like to say it was his “aww shucks” attitude and winning personality, but it was probably more likely his floppy hair and bandit’s smile. Kirk Cameron played Mike Seaver, the mischievous, all-American boy next door, who was part of a wholesome family in suburban America. Part of his charm was how familiar he seemed to us all, and how accessible he was. He totally seemed like he could be our boyfriend.

He went on to star in his own short-lived sitcom, titled Kirk, but it didn’t make it very far with audiences. After that, he turned his attention to more faith-based content, including Christmas movies, TV specials, and appearances on Christian stations.

What he’s doing now: Not much that you would have seen. He enjoyed a fair amount of success with 2016’s Fireproof, but he mostly just enjoys a pretty quiet, evangelical life. These days folks know his as Candace Cameron Burress’ brother than anything else.

Kirk at his best: Although he’s most notably connected with the ’80s sitcom, but I believe his body of work is has a lot more to offer. In fact, check out The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes to get the full breadth of his acting abilities. He’s done other straight-to-video films that are inspirational and might cheer you up if you’re feeling blue.
