Mamma Mia!

Nothing screams “summer” quite like a romantic movie-musical set on a beautiful Greek island! Throw in the music of ABBA and you have yourself one fun afternoon.

21-year-old Sophie is set to get married to Sky, the love of her life, on the Greek island of Kalokairi, where her mother runs a hotel named Villa Donna. She has friends flying in from all over the world, but there’s one guest missing to make it perfect: her dad. Unfortunately, she never knew who her father was, and her mother Donna hates talking about it.

Luckily for her, the clever Sophie finds her mom’s diary from the year she was conceived and realizes Donna was with three possible men who could be her father. So, of course, the best idea is to secretly invite all three of them, in hopes that Sophie will immediately be able to recognize her own father. She doesn’t.

Donna thinks she’s being punished for her past when she stumbles on all three men hidden away in a shack on her property, but they all pretend they have no idea about Sophie’s wedding. They also don’t immediately realize that they might be her father.

Mamma Mia! is perfect for a hot summer day spent at home because you get a perfect view of the beach and stunning, sparkling blue waters (and Dominic Cooper’s abs!) — plus you get to sing along to the music of ABBA! And if you don’t like ABBA, just stay for the heartwarmingly funny tale of a mother and daughter, and their close bond as she’s getting married. (But seriously, who doesn’t like ABBA?)

Plus, the sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, hits theaters on July 20. So if you watch it now, you’ll be ready and pumped up for more!
