Avengers 4 should probably open on one of these fanart scenes

Avengers 4 will probably be a wild ride emotionally, but one artist has already captured some devastating scenes that could probably start the movie.

How should Avengers 4 open? That’s probably a question that consumed the screenwriters and perhaps all of Marvel. It has to set the tone, whether it’s hopeful or devastating, and ensure that the audience has at least some idea of what’s to come.

We probably won’t know exactly what will happen until next year. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating, and one artist, in particular, has depicted the fallout of the end of Avengers: Infinity War in a way that could probably open Avengers 4.

His name is Stephen Byrne, and he’s worked on titles like Mera: Tidebreaker per his bio on Twitter. Nerdist also posted about these images:

Here’s his art, titled After the Snap:

Who needs dialogue? There’s probably little Marvel could do to top lines like “Mr. Stark, I don’t feel so good.” Granted, it’s almost certainly too late to incorporate the X-Men, but let us have this. Maybe it’s a stinger or something.

Anyway, back to the idea of opening directly after Infinity War ends. While a time jump is rumored, it’s possible that we could see scenes like this and then move forward in time. Certainly we, as an audience, have reckoned with the emotions caused by the snap. However, to see characters also come to terms with what has happened, as they do in the above, might help Avengers 4 resonate more on an emotional level.

(Also, we just want to see Tony Stark mourning Peter Parker a little more, because we’re still not over Spider-Man.)

Next: Is Thanos a liar in Infinity War?

All that being said, if we had to pick one of these four to be most likely, we’d have to guess it’d be Captain Marvel getting the call, immediately making that pay off instead of having her appear when things look most dire once again.

Regardless, Avengers 4 will arrive next year.
