During this week’s episode of The 100, Madi’s training with Octavia will officially begin. Her lessons in “Acceptable Losses” may give us further insight into Wonkru’s brutal way of life.

The last episode of The 100 was full of twists and turns, but the most shocking moment was Madi’s initiation into Wonkru. We knew Octavia would eventually find out about Madi’s Nightblood, but that reaction certainly wasn’t the one we were expecting.

Judging by the preview of this week’s episode, viewers will get front row seats to Madi’s training sessions with the great Bloodreina. Watch the promo for “Acceptable Losses” here:

The preview begins with a shot of Madi training with Ethan. Of course, Madi winds up on the ground. The fighting skills Clarke taught her would never trump those of Wonkru.

Octavia speaks while the scene plays out, reiterating a theme that has been prominent in The 100 since its first season: “In war, you have to do the wrong things for the right reasons.” Despite her questionable decisions over the past few episodes, it’s difficult to disagree with her.

The promo then shifts to a gruesome shot of someone lying on a table, her back bloody and scissors hanging from it. From the following clip of Abby and Kane sitting on the ground beneath this table, we can assume that Abby’s attempts to cure the Eligius prisoners aren’t going so well.

She and Kane both look pretty distraught over the bloodied body, but who can blame them? Diyoza’s not going to be thrilled when she discovers that the doctor she took hostage isn’t living up to her expectations.

After this, Monty repeats the same quote from the fifth season trailer: “If a war is the only way to have the last survivable land on Earth, then maybe we don’t deserve it.” Since Monty is one of the few people Octavia was excited to see again, maybe he can convince her to work toward peace.

Indra also has a warning for Octavia, telling her to “beware of the dark.” It’s difficult to tell whether this scene is a flashback or not, but it could be a reference to the dark year. Whatever it means, we feel sorry for whoever is on the end of Octavia’s glare that follows these words.

The preview ends with what looks like bad news for Kabby fans. Abby is desperately trying to convince Kane that she did all that she could, but he seems indifferent to her words. Very bluntly, he tells her that “it wasn’t enough.”
