15. Mulan’s grandma is the best

Honestly, Mulan’s grandmother is my favorite character in the movie. She is funny, loving, and a bit crazy, which makes her the perfect person to balance out the Fa family. Most of the time, Mulan’s parents are very serious. So it’s nice to see a happier person in the mix. She reminds me of my own grandmother, which is why I quote her all the time.

The best scene with her grandmother is at the beginning of the movie. She says Crickee is lucky and to prove it, she does something insane. Grandma Fa covers her eyes and walks across a busy street with Crickee in her hand. After causing a couple of accidents, she makes it and says, “This cricket is a lucky one!” Grandma Fa also makes funny comments about Mulan needing to bring home a man instead of a sword.

The spunkiness and off-centered attitude of Grandma Fa is what I imagine Mulan to be like when she is older. Grandma Fa doesn’t care what anyone else thinks about her and just wants to enjoy life. Honestly, Grandma Fa lives like we all want to. At the end of it all, we just want to laugh and be who we are.
