9. Malcolm Merlyn from Arrow

Most of us don’t want to wake up and discover that our father is a supervillain, even one as cool as the Dark Archer. So we understand Tommy’s disappointment when Malcolm informs him that he has plans to level half of Starling City. The kid’s views of his father couldn’t have improved much when these plans resulted in his own death.

Tommy isn’t the only child Malcolm fails. During the second season of Arrow, it’s revealed that he’s also Thea Queen’s father. While he attempts to form a relationship with her, it’s mostly based on selfish desire. He trains her for his own purposes, going as far as to drug her and force her to kill one of Oliver’s friends.

Needless to say, Malcolm’s actions are pretty irredeemable. He tries to redeem them anyway, but he isn’t fooling us.

10. John Winchester from Supernatural

John Winchester isn’t a bad person, but he often lets his quest for vengeance to distract him from fatherhood. Following his wife’s death, he fails to provide stability and support for his two sons. Instead, he drags them all over the country, teaching them to hunt monsters and demons.

When Sam attempts to go to college and build a partially “normal” life for himself, John has the nerve to hold it against him. His resentment creates a rift between Sam and Dean that isn’t repaired until Sam reluctantly returns to “the family business.”

It’s honestly no wonder the Winchester boys have so many daddy issues. Thankfully, they have Bobby Singer to show them what a father figure should actually look like.
