9. The Real Housewives of Orange County

The rundown: A handful of middle-aged women drink white wine and bicker over who said what behind whose back. Oh… and they’re super rich and vain.

Why it’s summer fun: What’s summer without a Housewives show? And it’s a fitting matchup that the original Housewives show, Orange County, drop its 13th season right in the middle of summer. It’s frothy, boozey, and even though it can really, really dark sometimes, it’s still a whole lot of fun.

I know I might be a horrible person for loving how messy this show is, but I’m not alone. The OC ladies have been around for longer than any of the other cities, and they show no signs of stopping. Our favorite and original housewife, Vicki Gunvalson, never disappoints when it comes to giving fans what they want and expect.

She’s lied about her boyfriend’s cancer, had her lady parts rejuvenated on camera, feuded with her family, and screamed at pretty much every single one of her cast mates, including her children. She’s good TV, always.

Although there might be some actual and genuine friendships between the ladies, that is really just beside the point of the show. They know how to fight and backbite to keep their stories relevant, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Where to watch: If you are super into it, you can go back and watch all 12 of the previous seasons on Hulu, but that seems like a lot to take on for the summer. You can just drop in on season 13 when it premieres in July, if you like. Just @ me your questions… I’ve been here since the beginning.
