9. S4E10: Tyrion kills his father.

Up until the fourth season, Tyrion takes pride in his family. Despite constant disagreements, he goes to great lengths to ensure the Lannister legacy remains intact. He does just about everything Tywin asks of him, even if he doesn’t necessarily agree.

When his family throws him in prison for Joffrey’s death, things begin to change. And we fully see Tyrion’s turning point when he murders his own father. It’s a difficult moment to watch, but it’s also satisfying. It marks the first time that Tyrion goes against his house in favor of what’s right.

After shooting his father, Tyrion tells him, “I am your son. I’ve always been your son.” His words ring true, particularly because he’s the only Lannister with a mind similar to Tywin’s. It really is a shame the two of them could never find a way to get along.

10. S5E8: Tyrion becomes advisor to Daenerys.

When Tyrion and Daenerys finally meet, it’s an exciting moment — if only because fans waited entire seasons for it to happen. Of course, the two don’t become friends right away.

Their early interactions consist mostly of them sizing each other up. Tyrion wishes to know whether Daenerys is worthy of his service, and Danerys attempts to figure out if he can be trusted. After all, their families don’t exactly have great history together.

The scene during which Tyrion becomes Daenerys’ advisor is the best of their earlier scenes, mostly because it demonstrates how well they function together. They’re matched in terms of wit, genuine in their political goals, and not afraid to challenge on another. It’s what makes them such a great team later on.
